about us
RescueFest was created by People’s Animal Welfare Society, a registered charity in England and Wales.
PAW Society is a foster-based cat and dog rescue. The animals we rescue are cared for in the homes of volunteers to provide more accurate behaviour assessments and to set them up for success once adopted. We rescue cats and dogs from the UK and overseas and believe that no animal is less deserving of love because of where they were born. We are particularly committed to supporting animals with long-term health conditions or disabilities. We’re passionate about mass neuter campaigns to reduce the need for charities like us overseas and providing basic care for animals in the UK, such as free microchipping.
We’ve attended many pet-related events to fundraise and raise awareness for our charity. On many occasions we were disappointed that these events show a preference for purchased pets over rescues. Animal rescues feel their presence here is a half-considered attempt to seem like the event values the rescue sector - their stalls are not visible or they’re placed next to stalls that directly counteract their missions. The vast majority of high-profile pet events focus mainly on dogs and cats to a lesser extent.
because every animal deserves to be safe.
RescueFest is different to every other pet event we’ve attended. The main attractions are our animal welfare organisations - their stalls will be prominent and customers are actively encouraged to interact, donate, and support them. We wanted to offer a free platform for this, but being a charity ourselves, couldn’t put our charity out of pocket. All other attractions on the day have allowed us to offer our free charity spaces. In addition, we welcome all animal welfare groups, from creepy crawlies to whales and everything in between.
